But......why do they not get those few jobs done and give it an MOT.
It would surely give the purchaser a bit more confidence in the vehicle, attract a better decent end price, and show you are a genuine seller of a product.
I have noticed people selling vehicles on Ebay describe how good their vehicles will be when someone else sorts out the problems and puts in a lot of time, money and effort, but they still want top dollar for what they are selling.

In my eyes one of the prettiest Rootes Saloons ever made. But is it an "automatic"?
The lever on the left of the steering column suggests gears. And the mention of "Easydrive" suggests a Ferlec Clutch full of iron filings.

I presume you mean it is one of those electric operated clutches like the Standrive.
In the eyes of the DSA and DVLA it would be an automatic, ie you can't take a test in any 2 pedal car and still get a manual licence.
Incidently what 3 pedal type of car is regarded as an automatic so far as licences are concerned? _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

I thought Model T's had a preselect box and not an automatic clutch as the 1950's 3 pedal semi auto's had eg Newtondrive, Saxomat, Ferlec. These had a standard gerabox and vac servo or electric clutch which operated when gear lever was held
Not sure whether even the fluid drive pre-select Daimlers and Armstrong Siddeleys can really be regarded as autos? These did not have a clutch pedal the 3rd pedal was for the change gearpoint _________________ Rover P2

Hi
So far as DSA is concerned if any one took a test in a car with a preselect gearbox and a "gear change" pedal, then they would be issued with an automatic only licence. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

Phil, the T, like the Fords preceding it, has an epicyclic transmission. It has two forward speeds plus reverse. _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking. |

| That dealership in West Road is still standing, but now Toomey Peugeot. As far as I can gather, it went from Holmes & Smith (Rootes) to Curries (Peugeot-Talbot) to Toomeys (Peugeot). |

I have spoken to the owners in depth about this car. Apparently they purchased it from a lady owner many years ago for their museum. They closed the museum some years ago and auctioned off the other vehicles but this was kept in a garage until now. They cannot decide on a price for the car so have decided to let it go to auction.
I would really prefer it to be in another colour, that is obviously personal so no offence to any light blue Hillman owners out there.
Any other colour and I would be tempted.

It was a bit like Grand National this morning.
No bids but everyone under starting orders.......then one person sets off with a bid and everyone else is soon to follow.
This car has always been around the three grand mark anyday of the week.especially with the provenance it has.
I should think a dealer could buy this car, sort out the MOT and take it to a premier event like Goodwood etc and get a good price.
It would not surprise me to see this in one of the glossy magazines in a few weeks with a £4999.00 price tag.
What ever it makes it will give me an idea what my Hillman Minx should be insured for.

| Yes, it will almost certainly go to a dealer, sadly. |
