Well done Bob. I spotted those GT6 doors too. They make the car look much more classy IMHO.
Had one of those in the collection for a season just a couple of years ago, but they are just the sort of car I used to potch with 'in period.' I had forgotten just what a tiny car it is and how close you feel to the mechanics of the thing. All adds to the fun though!
Best of luck with it. |

I must admit the gt6 door glass and 1/4 lights really do make the car look much nicer, fully agree with being close to the mechanics, I just can't stop driving her she is so much fun |

Rick, I just love her, she is so much fun despite her faults. Each time I get behind the wheel I grin like the cat with perverbial cream.
I am going to re spray her as the paint is quite thin in places, may get this done next week if the weather is good and I take my week off at home but have plans to visit family also.
Got some spare seats so I can get the buckets refurbed and need to source some walnut bur for my spare dash.
Looking for a hard top for her so I can cope with winter better but despite seeing them go for less than £40 on ebay they are always down sarf.
The past few weeks I have de-coked the head, re-cut the valve seats and lapped the valves in. That was an achievement in itself since I had never attempted anything that advanced but with some help from a good friend was a thouroughly enjoyable experience.
running a classic on a shoe string means I have to learn fast and tackle everything in such a way that I do not lose the use of my only car |

Rather than uploading images all over the place I am keeping a blog. Not updated this thread in a very long time but I got a hardtop to restore last month.
From this.
Supposedly solid
through this
having bare metalled I found there was considerable damage hidden by loads of filler this being one of the worst areas.
and finally to this.
Saved myself a bit by doing this instead of buying a servicable one.
I even did my own headlining saving a bit more.
It is by no means perfect but will do the job.
If you would like to see my progress since aquiring the car all the images are on my blog http://mkivspitty.blogspot.com/ _________________
