Other than a battery the 7 inch headlamp must be close. The rear lights and indicators on the Minor were widely used as well. Was the tail light cluster on the mk1 Cortina not used on one of the Bedfords.?

Since you normally get 5 of them per car and they haven't changed much over the centuries I think I'd put forward the Schrader valve for the award.

Nut behind the steering wheel? Very Happy

Seriously though I bet is going to be electrical , as Lucas stuff was on so many vehicles in the UK from the 30's to the 80's. Control box must be up there.

I remember them being used on the TVR Vixen S1's -

My vote for most commonly used part would be - Piston, in all the various makes of engines a single size and type would be fitted into.

Many early cars were mostly constructed of wood.

Screws.

My nomination for the single most commonly used item, replaced most often, fits almost any vehicle from the 20's until quite recently, made by hundreds of manufacturers all over the world & probably highest volume item sold is:

the 5 Watt bulb

I'd go along wth that Mike with the proviso that you include 6W bulbs. Throughout most of my life side lamp bulbs etc were always 6W. Only in more recent years have they "lost" a Watt. What!

For Michael1703 - Jiggle pins are not very common! I have never come across a vehicle with more than two and lots have none at all.
I am serious - now you had better go and find one!
Jim.
