1971 Wolseley 18/85 (Tax exempt) Automatic, in Limeflower.

Very good condition, one previous owner and always kept garaged. Supplied new by SMAC's of Essex. Approx. 64,000 miles. I bought this back in November and since then I've hardly used it but have spent loads! The power steering didn't work so I bought a new rack at a cost of nearly £400! (gulp) and had it fitted by a local garage. The PAS now works though. The dynamo has been rebuilt and I've just fitted a reconditioned starter motor as it had an irritating problem where the starter would disengage after a couple of spins, now it starts well. I've also fitted a new battery, air filter and a nice little oil pressure gauge (which shows good readings) as the original didn't work. I've also had a new tyre fitted and the front tracking done. She now sports three newish Falcons and a Firestone, all with loads of tread.

It drives very well indeed, the autobox changes nicely and the kickdown works, all as you'd expect really. Bodywise it is very good and I would describe it as one of the best original 18/85's out there. It has been waxoyled from new and this seems to have protected it from the dreaded tinworm. There are a few minor imperfections such as several stone chips on the front panel which have been touched in and the odd small bit of crazing here and there. Both front wings have been resprayed before and the colour match is decent, but not perfect. The interior is hard to fault really, it's all original and in excellent condition really, the original headlining is mint. There is a very small split in the passenger seat and a small amount of wear on the front carpet but it's not terrible.

It's MOT'd until the 25th November (went through the last one with no advisories) and comes with quite a lot of history, the original RAC membership pack, most tax discs from new including the very first one, and a handwritten record of work done on the car spanning 20 years.

I'm looking for £1600 for it, I can't really go any lower than that but it is a fantastic car and if I had the space I would keep it as I know I'd never get another one as good.

Anyone interested? It's in Southend SS3 postcode.

Well thats almost perfect RH, if I was in UK I'd definately buy that, a lot of car for not a lot of money. Hope it finds a good home, good luck with the sale.
