That Mk1 escort is still on DVLA data base.
Would import duty have to be paid if it was bought back to the UK.
If so anyone know how much.
Got some interested parties on the essex-classics site.

You don't have to pay any import duty on cars from countries that are now classed as part of Europe.
I have bought cars from Germany and Belgium before, driven them home, got an MOT on them then registered them and that's it [about £50 to register but must have MOT and insurance as you have to tax them at the same time ]
Guess that's one good thing from being part of Europe  |
