UPDATE ON THE CHASSIS :- Due to my restorer being RUSHED off his feet preparing several E Types and the like for other clients wanting to be at Goodwood, the chassis has taken a back seat and will now be ready mid/late July.

How much do you want for this SP which I assume is at the moment a big box o'bits? as per your list. Not being an expert I cannot make a offer and would prefere to know what you expect for it all. I would need to see it all and to that end where are you?

Hello Tony,
Thanks for your interest in this rare car. Yes you are correct, what you see in the album pictures is what you get. As for how much, well thats a very good question, the value of whats for sale is what someone is happy to pay for it? for guidance the car stands me in at £7800.
I am based in Sittingbourne Kent.
Regards

Hi again,
Yes I am interested how much depends on if absolutely all the car is there
and what you have done to anything so far.I see that you have not yet got your chassis rebuilt, and I would want to do that myself and not pay for someone elses work. You list two gear boxes so what are they from as the SP did not have overdrive. Are the two boxes Jag ones as out of say an E type or the V8 250 saloon? What is their condition IE rebuilt or as is?
You say you have an album of pictures, can you tell me how I can get to see them on this site as it's not clear to me. is it on your profile?
So maybe you can let me know these two things. I can say right now that I wouldn't be prepared to pay more than around what you mention and that would depend on what you get and what you have done so far, as the value of a basket case of a car or in bits is around £6K. One can get them for less than this in the USA and ship over. I would prefer to get one here to save that hassle.
So look forward to hear from you again. |

Right worked it out, however they pose more questions than they answer which is usual really. Presumably you have everything that should be with an SP? Anything that you know is missing?
Whilst I can now see the gearbox all is still not clear to me. You have got a saloon engine with the shallower SP sump, does that include the SP oil pickup? The gear boxes; one may be a saloon manual and one may be the SP type?? SO can u clear that up for me? Presumably all the screen is complete and what about the side wind up windows, you have the glass, but what about the metal frame that goes round them? What about wiring loom? Similarly steering column and box with track rods etc? Side lights and headlights? The fuel tank looks as it has rust holes? If so its u/s as they are not worth repairing.
For the moment that's all and look forward to being more illuminated.

The gearbox with the bellhousing you say is a perfect match for your saloon engine. Are you saying that the shape of it matches all the bolt holes on your engine, so is a match?
Your chassis 'expert', what exactly is he doing to the chassis apart from maybe painting it. is he for interest rebuilding the front and rear suspension and the axle?
If you want to sell it, you must give me a price
Tony. |
