My late father was an Austin 7 enthusiast and would recount the finer and not so finer points of the twelve or more that he owned from the late 1930s until the late 1940s.
He used to explain to me the important differences between Ulsters, Rubies, Big Sevens and other variants although. for some reason, he had little to say about the many "specials".
Here are a few family photos of some of his "Sevens" with an interloper or two added just for interest sake.

The next photo was taken by my late father in the Spring of 1971 at an early classic show in the former goods yard of Betws y Coed railway station.I have attended many car shows in North Wales and have not seen this "7" since.

The next photo is of the Ford Model Y I showed you earlier this year but with eariler headlamp lighting restrictors.

And the last photo is of one of my father's "interlopers". It's only a glimpse of a bonnet but can someone identify the car, please? Is the registration number originally from Stafford?

I hope you enjoy these photos and trust that you can also identify the Austin 7 variants shown in the respective photos.

I wish I had taken more black and white photos when I was younger. Colour was too expensive in those days. Take photos ! Take photos ! And store carefully . |
