Is this the gearbox that can be used to replace an E93a box.
I know there is a four speed box that can be used as a straight swap for a three speed E93a but have forgotten which one.

Roger, maybe it's the Series E box your thinking of. Series 1 and 2 used 3 forward speeds and, handily, reverse.
