On the DLM the bonnet and boot are secured with Dzus fasteners.
Four on the bonnet, removes in one piece
Two on the boot lid, front hinged.

Anyway I am trying to get some new ones with 'D' rings.
I am beginning to think that they no longer make the slotted 'D' ring studs.
All I can find are grooved ones with the rings.

The ones I have had since pre 70's have a slot that drops over a wire spring.
The new type have a groove on both sides that drop into a hole with a couple of lugs for the grooves.
The mountings are completley different as well

Is there anyone out there with some surplus ones I could buy of them.
I definitely need two, but six in good condition would look better.

Otherwise I am going to have to change all the wire / spring fittings for the new type, holes with lugs sticking out.
This would require some surgery to the panels.
And having just got to the last stages of a re paint I would prefer not to.

Roger

Someone has asked about these fasteners.
Said I'd post a photo of the fastener.

Had a nice surprise just now.
I have a small hook by the garage door to hang the Dzus bolts on when the car is in the garage with the bonnet off.
Was alway putting them down and then forgetting were.
Just been down to get one of the bolts only to find another half dozen of same, all bright zinc plated.
Just phoned my friend to ask if he put them there, he has a key for the house and garage, "Oh, forgot to tell you, put them there over Christmas, when you were away" Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Cool

This is the mate I have mentioned before with the Ford 103e.

Anyway now sorted, these are the old and new style.

PS the one on the right is NOT the one from my mate, it was sent as samples from a supplier
