The wonders of the internet. As well as my visits to this forum, I frequent one set up by the Model T Ford Club of America. Through that, a member there, Warwick, got in touch with me and we found that we lived within 50 miles of each other, here in Victoria, Australia.

Warwick organised an outing for the Model T Ford Club of Victoria, and invited my wife and I to attend despite the fact that we don't own a T and would be Rovering to the event. We were unable to join in for the whole weekend, but managed to join the T-ers for Saturday afternoon.

The venue was the Latrobe Valley coalfields where there are reserves of brown coal sufficient to provide electricity for the state for many decades to come. The State Electricity Commission started operations there in the Model T era, in fact below is a photo of a T and a TT truck, engaged on the building of the first transmission line from there to Melbourne.



My wife and I arrived at 'Powerworks' a display centre for the industry while the car owners were away on a guided tour.



We were able to view and photograph the cars before the owners returned. Here are some pics-

After lunch we visited the Brown Coal Museum at Yallourn, and thoroughly enjoyed motoring along in company with the T's that brought back so many memories for me.

Thanks to Warwick, and all of the T people for making us welcome in spite of our more modern car.

Thanks Rick, In a word, yes.

Prior to 1917 a lot of Fords were fitted with local bodies, but many were imported complete, however in 1917 an Act was passed that made the import of whole cars of any make extremely expensive, so this boosted the local body building businesses.
