hi in the summer of 1975 we bought our first caravan i was 9 years old.
it was brand new two tone green & white a 25ft 6 berth static on a site at chapel st leonards near skegness.
my parents paid approx £1000 for it, it was a signle end bedroom & had mains electric (the site didn't untill 78 lol) in the early 90's it was replaced by a blue anchor superstar of the same size but now with mains water (never liked this one), the aztec was sold & went to somewhere in pennystone(wont accept correct spelling) not that far from me just glad i've no room as would gladly buy it back.

i remember it had a sticker on the front with a sort of pharohs head & aztec caravans hull ltd (wish i was good with pcs could put a pic up), in the 12 years we owned it i only ever saw one other the same brand but different model (niether had a model name visable).

i've never been able to find an info on them does anyone remember them or the company???

The Aztec was made by Atlas Caravans, based like almost every other static caravan maker, in Hull (why Hull?) I had a quick look at their website, and they are still going strong. We have a Willerby Aspen (also made in Hull of course Smile , but we haven't been to the site yet this year; when we do I'll have to look out for Atlas Caravans and see what models they make now.

There seems to be zero interest in classic static caravans compared to touring ones, perhaps because it is more difficult to take them to rallies Wink

you lot have got me badly confused now... there are static caravans as well as (i suppose) traditional mobile ones? is this parallel to the US travel trailer (your tow-behind caravan) and a mobile home (trailer house)?
i wouldn't think there would have been a saleable market for a stringently small mobile home in such a densely populated country; the regular caravans being more casual use/weekend/holiday rigs? of course, i simply might be reading the situation incorrectly. many US RV'ers are fulltime occupants of their rigs, motorhome and travel trailers combined.

thanks alfanut.
was suggested recently it may have been an atlas product, so a new avenue to follow.

62 rebel.
in the uk & europe a static is usually used for holidays (weekends sometimes a full week) usually at the coast most people are an average of 2-3 hours drive away.
its usually permently sited from new.
so a static is what you would prob call a mobile home.

theres a max trailer length that a car/van can tow in the uk of 22ft & i think 6 1/2 feet wide.
