I don't exactly collect motorcycles but I do tend to accumilate them!
I'd happily contribute to the forum and perhaps bore you all with pictures and the odd story of my ride-outs!
By the way - that's not me on the Guzzi - I have it as my desktop |

Up until the end of last year I had five bikes, but as of last week I'm down to one due to Mrs Nail having a negative view of them.
The last one I bought was a Suzuki enduro machine which was (reluctantly) sold just last week, the reason was political - The current Mrs Nail was afraid I'd break my neck on it, and the Ex-Mrs Nail hoped I would! |

Rick, I'd love to see a bike part on the forum, although i will admit, I doubt if it will get much traffic....maybe Old-Nail and I can get our heads together as to some topics and so on to get things started.

I think that, like me, many 'car nuts' have a motorcycle tucked away somewhere.
I have a fairly rare 1939 600cc Ariel square 4. I gave it a light restoration back in the mid-90s and have'nt ridden it for about 5 years now. I think I may have lost my bottle.
Will post photo later when I can get at it again. |

Like Old-Nail, I manage to accumulate motorcycles without any apparent reason. Several years ago my late brother in law, then an autojumbler, sold me a complete, running 1954 BSA Bantam 125 which was identical to my first ever bike. Then I bought 3 more...like you do.Different years and models but Bantams. I still have them all. A while later I was restoring a 1969 Triumph Trophy 650 for a friend who lost interest and gave it to me, two weeks later I was riding it and still have it. Another friend had owned a 1974 Honda ST70 Monkey Bike from new, as I'd always loved the thing he sold it to me for a pittance, running and roadworthy....saw another advertised locally and bought that too....like you do. Still got them, both still run. The 1953 New Hudson Autocycle was given to me by a bloke I'd done some ally welding for, the 1985 Yamaha YPVS 350 came from a youth who worked next door to my place of business, he could'nt get it to run..new ignition coil, sorted! 1985 Kawasaki GPz 900R from a friend of my son who was frightened by it's performance and my favourite, a 1995 Honda Fireblade in Urban Tiger colourscheme I bought from my nephew as a 50th birthday present for myself...now that is fast!
Not bought/obtained any just lately, I must try harder!
As you can imagine, I'd be very interested in a 2 and/or 3 wheel forum.

Will dig it out of "storage" and take some photos, eventually. It's at my business unit surrounded by stuff, including other bikes. I share the unit with my brother....did I mention that he's got 22 bikes? To get to the Trophy I'll need to shift 2 James Handyvans (JAP engined 3-wheelers), at least one Velocette, maybe two, and several items of engineering kit.

Hi, just found the photo I promised to post: It's a 1939 600cc Ariel 4F square 4. A 30s 'Superbike'.
It must be one of the last 600s made, as they only made the 1000cc after the war.
I bought it in a pretty derelict state in 1989 and worked on it on-and-off until it was ready for the road in 1995, have'nt used it for a few years now. http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t103/donthebat/30sSuperbike.jpg |

A nice example of one of ET's masterpieces.
Pigtin: I'm not quite sure if I still have it, but somewhere I have a copy of Ixions road test on your Squariel....
