My first van I bought from Graham Street car market in Glasgow was a Morris "Z" type for which I paid £19 Shocked Must be worth 20 times that now. It was an ex Post Office Telephones.
Then I bought another ex Telephoes van VUC99. Think that was about the £30 mark.
Years later I had A MK1 Escort van. Then the family came along and that was the end of vans for me. Sad

There have been a couple of Z vans sold on eBay recently, both were advertised for complete restoration or parts, both sold for over £1000 Shocked Shocked

Commercials do seem to attract a higher premium....

Vans are rare now aren't they, I've unearthed two or three different examples over the years but don't have one now alas.

So did I. A very early 1968 1.1 with the low compression engine which I bought in 1983 from it's one elderly lady owner. It had only done 30,000 miles from new and was mint.

The price? £150 with nearly an year's MOT and tax on it.
Happy days.

Here's a photo of it :

I had a VW Type 2, DCG 606K (I think). The intention was to convert it into a camper, I had even bought the plans and some parts but it never materialised. I used to drive around with an old mattress in the back for my mates to sit on - got some very strange looks when one morning I picked up some girls who had missed their college bus. Cue lots of worried giggling and side-long looks but by the end of the journey the double-entendres were flying - never saw them again... Crying or Very sad

Christmas 1958 I bought my first post-war vehicle. A 1947 Austin 8 van, for £120 from Peter Blair-Richley's garage in Ashford. I covered a huge mileage in it with little trouble.
I had the usual old matress in the back, but it got a bit smelly from leaks in the canvas roof as it got older.
The leaks, at inopportune moments, could have a debilitating effect on my love life. Embarassed

Back in the pre need to wear seat belt days I had a mini van and boy did I have fun with that, as I was in the trade it was always full of tools or engine bits so when I turned up at a girlfriends house to take her out I found one of her mates was tagging along so we went out with the girlfriend sat in the passenger seat and her mate sat on her lap as it was too dirty to go in the back. I got hold of an MG 1300 (1100/1300 type) which had failed its MOT but the engine was in good shape and fitted the engine into the mini and yes it did fit I recall we had to weld a new two into one exhaust pipe and bend the metel around the rad area and give the bulk head around the back of the carbs a bit of a bash to give them room but when done it used to fly. Oh the things we do in our youth.

Oops! Embarassed It was traditional in those days to lessen the injuries to passengers rolling about. Do you know even small vans were restricted to 30mph in those days, and the most popular extras were big rear-view mirrors.

I owned the only still existing LHD Commer Imp Van for a while, sold it because too unpractical.
Rescued a Commer Walk Tru 6 cyl from the scrapyard years ago, a friend has it now. I love that design.
Our company just bought a 1997 Citroën Berlingo. Excellent little car, fantastic condition for just 500 UKP! Unwanted because too old in the genral car market?

I want a Bond 875 van. Just so stupid, too fast for its design.
