I like to keep my oldies taxed and insured for the full 12 months, as winter drives out - so long as the roads aren't caked too badly in salt - can be great, plus there are one or two winter gatherings worth popping over to. Admittedly being tax-free helps, but even before that came in I never took a classic off the road for the winter.
Do you keep your car(s) road legal for the full 12 months, or do you put your P&J into hibernation until - in theory - better weather returns?

| Generally 12 months, but the Roller is summer only, due to the risk of frost damage come winter, and the parts on it being so hard to come by/expensive, not worth taking the risk. Also having an injector freeze whist in steam, is not much fun either... |

| 12 months, couldn't do otherwise in case I felt like a winter's drive - which I often do. |

Exactly the same for me, the only problem is the MOT is about to run out...

12 months, definitely. Keep up to date with your rustproofing, give it a really good hosing off after salty journeys and don't leave it it parked on the street when the salt's flying. It won't do any harm and, of course, you're so much less likely to have trouble with things seizing up due to a lack of use |

| Mine's only taxed from April to September for the main show season. Sometimes I'll find a nice crisp winter day and wish it was on the road for a quick drive, but not worth the extra £100-odd, so far at least. |

Mine's insured 12 months but I lock it away when the first salt goes down and don't bring it out again until plenty of rain has washed the roads ~ April.

12 months for me salt or no salt! in fact bring on the salt !!!
ok I know I am being flippant, but I think we can be both sensible on when we take vehicles out, and have better facilities these days to clean them when they have been out with salt on the roads.

12 months for me as well even at £220. A good dry winters day and I will take it for a run. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

How else can we do the Xmas and New Year meets
As above - there's something about wrapping up warm and going for a drive to Hartley Wintney or the New Forest at -10C! Not sure quite what, but, well, it has to be done. Ah, I remember -, venison butty, a pint of beer, good conversation, knowledgeable and passionate people. What more could one want to start the year. |

12 months for me.
I use my old Land Rover all year round and in the winter months when it snows, it's used for Northants 4x4 Response. We take nurses and doctors out to the elderly for their medication and check ups. Also used for meals on wheels when the normal van just can't get there. _________________
