Ok this might be another American TV programme but it is a lot better than most of the programmes aimed at the Classic Car enthusiast or general public.,it is on channel 242 Sky today (Sunday) so I am tapping them to watch later.
I think it is difficult to make a series about vehicles in general that is informative but does not get too technical or boring.
There was a very interesting programme the other week about the Marharajas Cars, during their time of affluence they imported so many Rolls Royce cars into India that it must have helped our export balance no end.
Even today there are so many of the cars in private collections, but sad to say so many were lost forever.
Who remembers from a few years back some other interesting programmes about vintage or classic vehicles i.e
Vintage and Veteran was one programme presented by Juliet Morris (2001) all about Cars,Trains Boats And Planes.
I think it was based in the East Anglia region of Great Britain.
Another programme that springs to mind was voiced over by John Peel.it was about the British Classic Car i,.e Sunbeam Rapier,Hillman Super Minx Convertible,Jowett Javelin etc, cannot remember the title.
Before we got Sky Tv into our home a friend used to watch in the early day`s a programme called The Car Is Born,an E Type and MGB was rebuilt to a very good quality,I think even now they rerun this programme.
Can anyone go back further than this.?

There was the silent movie old car two part Trade Test Transmission for BBC2 in 1967-ish.
They were on You Tube.

I have also still got the John Peel one on vans. Thats the one where there was a bakers or butchers van that looked like a motorbike with a van body. If I remember there is a Trojan in it as well. Quinten Wilson done a series as well years ago. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

Just watched an episode of Chasing Classic Cars tonight about an auction held by a muscle car collector.
In the 1980`s i used to attend many American car rallies but with my British vehicles.
At the time lads were bringing over muscle cars from the states but I was not really into them.
We used to laugh at the prices they had to pay for petrol to run some of these cars.
Now I wish I had brought a few when I see the prices they are fetching now.
