Was there ever a vehicle that you lusted over.
I checked on the definition and found it fits. So this isn't about a vehicle that was nice, or suitable or useful, it isn't about a vehicle that you owned, but rather one that you never owned but lusted over at some point and maybe still do.
I have two LO's . In the 1960's it was the Lotus Elan and then later, in the 70's/80's it was the Audi Quattro as "flown" by Michelle Mouton. |

Only two makes come to mind at the moment, must be others over the years.
Nearly anything Bentley.
And Gordon Keeble.
Oh Yes, wish I still had my old 1953 Beetle in it's final 'sorted' state.
PS. Bentleys from the 1920 to today, |

Riley Pathfinder.
As a youngster I would put my nose against a window of a showroom in Streatham and dream of such a vehicle. Then there appeared (in the same showroom) the new DS19 Citroen and I was torn between the two. But the squat, sinister and brutal appearance of the Riley won out.
Years later I drove both models and the agricultural, heavy handling of the Riley disappointed me. As for the handling of the DS19... Wow! _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. I have written a book though. https://amzn.eu/d/7rwRRqL |

An old Alvis or 1.5l Jaguar, Something about the look of them along with the smell of a leather interior and the real wood dash. |

The first car i was taken out on road test in, as a new apprentice, was a Riley one point five. The leather, the walnut? it seemed such a lovely car to me. I said i would have one of my own one day, but never have. |

Maserati Quattroporte Sport GTS - just the name Maserati gives me goosebumps, not to mention the sound of its engine in full flight. |

A Fiat 124 Sport Coupe. The 2 headlamp one seemed a lot cooler than the 4. Definately a step up from the Triumph Herald I ran at the time.
Eventually my head was turned by the Triumph 2000 and I did manage to own several of those over the years.
That 124 though. Don't they look the very personification of a mid-life crisis?
If not for being past mid-life I would probably have to buy one! |
