Basic stuff like soldering the ends of choke and throttle cables so they can be refitted without fraying.
Rubbing smooth peanut butter on the black trim on modern cars.
One from the past ...wrapping the leafs of your springs with Denso tape to stop chaffing and squeaking...Wonder if you can still get that.?

One that comes to mind is a cheap and simple fix for leaky drain taps of the plug cock variety as fitted to older rads and engine blocks. If you can get them apart it's quite easy to lap the two halves together with fine valve grinding paste which will usually sort the leak without spending £££'s
Yes, you can still get Denso tape, and jolly useful it is too for all sorts of jobs  |
