Hi Rick,
ever since I changed my email address in my profile, I have received no notifications of new posts or replies (months now).
I have to trawl laboriously through the forum to find them. Even so I suspect I have missed quite a few.
Can you suggest the reason?
Jim.

Nope it should work ok, occasionally I get notifications that emails to odd users have bounced, usually because they've changed email addressess and not changed their profile on here to match, but I've not known emails not get through where the address recorded is correct.

Just a thought if you use a web based mail with Outlook or similar POP3 account. The mails may have been filtered into your spam/junk of the web based mail before you check your mail and will therefore not turn up in your POP3 account mail.
Check the web mail junk folder and mark as not spam....

Junk mail folders are stupid: mail should be accepted or rejected at SMTP time. To accept and put in a folder encourages spammers to send more rubbish!

Thanks for checking Rick.
I'm afraid the quote above from traction39 might just as well be written in Dutch!
So OK, I know POP means Post Office Protocol (presumably there are at least 3 variations too), but as for the rest??????

Most consumer items, e.g. washing machines, sewing machines etc. have developed over the years so that it is unnecessary to understandhow they work . Cars etc. can be included too. Not so computers, and I would be extemely happy to be able to use my computer with the same lack of knowledge and terminology.

I do know that when a box appears to send confirmation of an order or whatever by email it never works on my computer. Never have found out why.
Whether that also has a bearing on notifications from this site I have no idea.
What I DO KNOW is that notification of a reply to this thread DID arrive!
Jim.
