Let me see now :
Series 1 Land Rover : 58
Series 2 Land Rover : 50
Jaguar Mark 2 : 48
Total 156
I reckon that's a mere stripling total compared to some of you. _________________ Starting Handle Expert

Austin 10/4. 80 years.
Austin 7 Special. 75 years.
Ariel Sq4. 73 years.
Austin Sprite. 43 years.
Now where is that calculator... _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. I have written a book though. https://amzn.eu/d/7rwRRqL |

Why not add up the ages of all the cars which donated parts to the special? _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

1935 = 77 (Standard 9 Chassis)
1953 = 59 (Ford e93a engine and gearbox) gearbox was new old stock in still crated in 1970
1956 = 56 (Ford 100e rear axle)
1957 = 55 (Ford 105e front-hydraulic-brakes on the Standar 9 axle)
1963 silencer = 49 (Massey Furguson)
1965 tractor headlights = 47 (uses 6-7 inch sealed beams)
Front sidelights - A35.
Rear boot hinges - Austin or Morris.
Shock absorbers - Hillman Hunter and Ford Anglia
Known ages take my one car to over the 340 mark.
But to be fair as one car it is a sibling at 53
Makes me feel old when I think it was the year I signed up to serve Queen and country. |

Looking at Roger's list of components on his special, prompted me to tot-up the ones on mine. Does this make my special the most diverse 'Bitsa' on the forum?
I have to thank all of these donors for my Austin 7 (Pigtin) Special:
Chassis and rear axle. Austin 7 1937.
Engine and gearbox. Reliant, circa 1973.
Independent front suspension. Super Accessories c 1955.
Footbrake and clutch pedal cluster. Reliant c 1970.
Front brakes. Morris Minor c 1960.
Rear brake system. Austin A30 c 1955.
Steering column and box. Austin 7 c 1935.
Remote gear change unit. Triumph Gloria c 1935.
Austin 7 radiator and shell. New pattern manuf’ c 1995.
Rear shock absorbers/spring assistors. Honda Moped c 1980.
Fuel tank. Austin Ruby c 1938.
= c 575 years.
Ali’ plate ¼” and 1/8” thick for bulkhead fly screens and much bracketry come from a Century Bowling lane conditioning machine, c 1980.
Many other things found around the garage, and of indeterminate age were also used totaling over 550 years _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. I have written a book though. https://amzn.eu/d/7rwRRqL |
