Something to stop lazy able-bodied b*stards using disabled bays!

Oh, and a great big spike to stick up through the driver's seat every time you switch on rear fog lights. Evil or Very Mad

Even better, automatic hammers that pop up out of the road and smash front foglights Twisted Evil

And how about a one eyed monster camera?

I would like to see a timer on brake lamp switches. Sitting at traffic lights on a ring road, i get really fed up of the number of cars which appear to have no handbrake. After being on for 10 seconds, the brake lamps should go off. Is this how people are taught these days, or are they all just idle? Rolling Eyes

Something to stop tailgating like squirting oil or s@@t on their windscreen not on the road. I hate when someone tailgates me. I just do extra braking. It drives them mad. I might need to have a 2lb hammer at the side of the seat in case of road rage. Laughing Laughing Laughing

I find that the screenwasher on my modern makes them withdraw a bit.

Although i am professionally involved in road safety, I would like to remove all Driver seat belts and Airbags and replace them with a 3" spike in the centre of the steering wheel.

Drivers of cars without deformable steering wheels and with collapsible steering columns are much less likely to rear end someone else and drive more carefully.

I'd like to invent a law requiring all drivers to display their insurance certificate details on their vehicle's windscreen.
I'd also like to invent a tyre that when the tread depth wore down to below 2mm, the tread turned red.

Riley541,

That may be possible now. I was looking for winter tyres for my XF and I came across Nokian tyres which have a 'Snow' symbol on the sidewall which dissappears when the tread depth goes below 4mm.

That's nothing new. Back in the 60's they used to have tyres that showed white canvas when they were 'nearly' worn out. Laughing

Interesting. When I attended a meeting with tyre manufacturers, police, politicians and the press when the minimum tread depth was introduced I put forward my idea for a red ply showing when the minimum tread depth was reached. It was dismissed as being impossible to manufacture into radial tyres.

That's the make of tyres that I always used to have on my first few cars Pigtin. I don't know if you ever encountered the type that came after that. I think they were standard fit on a Cinquecento; they showed a special steel wire tread when they needed replacement!

I must confess to actually running tyres until the inner tube showed through. I then knew I would have to replace them before long.

Hi
Could I refer the last few posters to the thread about whether to have a voluntary MoT. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I remember once having radials on the front and crossplys on the rear, before they made that illegal. Embarassed

Did cure the horrendous understeer though, went round corners on rails, but you had to work at straightening up because it didn't castor.
