Can anyone give me some approximate performance information regarding Rolls Royce cars of the 20s and 30s please. I realize that body type will make a difference but its a realistic expectation from a 20hp,20/25 especially a 20/25 Sedanca Deville.Thanks

I guess that your question will be hard to answer because it must be quite rare to own such a car and most people will just presume the answer is something like " A lot better than most cars of that era".

I think Rolls Royce's reply to how much power their cars had was "Adequate".

The smaller cars were not over powered the 20hp max around 60 mph later gate change models 65 or so. The later 20/25s had a few more HP but much additional weight. They are not sports cars! Many fit overdrive to the later cars to improve cruising and no doubt tune them up a little. Plenty of info on the web I imagine. Remember a Phantom 1 was only good for 80 ish with a much bigger engine.
Lots around as they never get scrapped - buy the one with the lightest body.

Hi

A Friend has a Silver Ghost, this keeps up with any modern traffic to be fair, though that will be higher HP than the 20/25 Sedanca Deville I would imagine.

All the small HP R-Rs are dog slow, they cruise at 45-50 and sound strained at anything more, hill climbing is a real challenge, but the very rare Wraith is rather better.

Derby Bentleys are much more lively, but still under geared and prone to overheating, so 55 comfortable and 66 is 3000 and strained.

The MKVI and R types are substantially better cars, arguably the nicest of all after the Ghost. Mine has a 3.4 to 1 axle and will cruise all day at 70-80mph.
