Not a classic...yet. Spotted this when I passed through Amsterdam airport today. I believe it is a Tazzari..made in Imola. Looked a lot of fun but only 140km distance before charging!! No wonder it was plugged into the mains!

Asda in Brynmawr has had a couple of electric car charging points installed this last year, but I haven't seen them being used yet and will be surprised if they ever are. Somehow I can't see Valleys folk rushing out to buy electric cars, they know how steep the hills really are |

Hopwood Park MSA on the M42 has an electric point. They took away a Blue Badge bay to install it.
If leccy cars have such a short range, why do they need a point on a motorway?
Surely, if they have a purpose at all, it is for town use? |

Don't think Asda management will care if they are used or not....they have ticked the box as requested by their QHSE policy..... |

Like it or not I think electric cars will be the future, and my bet is that the GM Ampere model is the way to go. It uses a technology that the rail industry has used for years; combustion engine driving a generator that drives an electric motor. As the motorist doesn't have access to full time power, the batteries are more important, and I'll bet battery technology advances in strives over the next 5-10 years.
Of course its only cleaner if the electricity is generated cleanly !.. certainly wont work if we use something like the old dirty Welsh coal in our power station's

How long would you be parked paying exhorbitant m/way service food prices whilst waiting to be charged up?
And how green is the manufacturing and disposal of the old batteries?
These are the sort of questions which send me to sleep at night. |
