got my tax reminder for the Alvis this morning, tried to tax it on-line to be given a message.....'vehicle not on the mot database'
of course all pre 1960 vehicles have been removed from the mot database since 18th of november 2012....
so a call to the DVLA followed.....only to be told they would ring me back after looking into it.....
anyway 3 hours later the phone rings....it was the DVLA and they say that as the car is already mot'd (runs out at the end of the month) the system is looking for the next mot certificate.
apparently my options are to try again online on the 1st of febuary when the mot runs out or go to the post office and fill out a mot exemption form to get the tax disc.
I'm going to go for the latter tomorow morning and I'll let you know how I get on! _________________ "people with money buy a Rolls Royce, people with taste buy an Alvis". |

Sounds a good scenario.
Mot'd sometime prior to the exemption date, mid year or later, or up to next February,
sorn over winter months, or for extended work etc. but want to recommission before the old MOT expires
looks like fun for some. |

got my tax disc this morning from the post office
i took my log book to confirm the vehicles age and the post office clerk was all clued up so it was a pleasant experience.
he said I wasn't the first in our town that had an a issue with taxing a pre 60 car since the 18th of november 2012.
so happy now, just awaiting my insurance renewal as my current insurance runs out at the end of the month. _________________ "people with money buy a Rolls Royce, people with taste buy an Alvis". |
