I normally wave and get waves from old cars. I get a few from moderns. I can't remember the last time that I got acknowledgement from a modern Jaguar, possibly because they don't know what their ancestors look like.

Yes Smile

On the 23rd December I was out in my A35 and saw a very nice 100E Popular coming the other way. We both waved, I flashed my lights and he honked his horn. It's the camaraderie among old car owners that is one of the most enjoyable parts of our hobby. Cool

A few times over the last year, coming home from work I have seen a Rochford Council dustcart coming the other way, with the driver flashing his lights and waving with a big grin on his face. I've seen him when I've been driving the Cambridge and the A35's, so he must be an Austin enthusiast! Smile Don't think I actually know him!

Yes, certainly do, only today I took my 'Popadoodle Doo' out and happened upon a Morris Minor Traveller😄..we both acknowledged each other.
I think it's great....I find it happens with all types of vehicles from Traction Engines to big American cars ...also Vespa & Lambretta Scooters

Interesting - when I'm out in my Riley and wave to drivers of other classics it's always Jaguar drivers who fail to acknowledge the greeting.

I often do the first wave at surprised looking observers who clearly don't know what to make of a 78 year old car, seemingly out of context on the way to the Post Office, rather than polished and off to a show on a sunny day. If the road is quiet I sometimes give them a trafficator "wave."

I used to get waves in my yellow Cinquecento from other yellow Cinquecento and (sometimes) Seicento drivers. Smile

Yes. The only people I find who don't return the wave are MGB drivers!

I wave sometimes, but rarely get one back. I still think people class mine as too modern I guess and aren't expecting it.

Other people just point and laugh!! Haha.

I don't usually wave due to the fear of looking stupid, but always wave back if someone waves first.

I get waves from pedestrians as well as drivers but the best I got was....whilst waiting at a set of traffic lights, a bloke stepped into the road with his hand cupped round his ear listening to the engine....then he looked at me and gave the thumbs up Very Happy

I usually wave, especially in the transit Mk1 motorhome to other motorhome drivers.
I waved to a very posh looking modern one the other day and it seems there's a new signal I wasn't aware of.Presumably it's a signal of how many prevous examples of your vehicle they've seen.
This guy had seen two.

Yep, and it's rare to get a wave from a TR5/6 driver as well.
