|

Hi everybody!
I'm an Englishman living in the middle of Sweden, and I have a 1964 Sprite Alpine, which is very definately non standard, but a great van, even though some parts are next to impossible to get hold of.
If, by some really strange turn of events, there is someone else on the board in Sweden who needs Sprite spares, I have quite a lot of random hardware, as well as glass.

Welcome John!
I live in Linköping but don´t need any Sprite spares as I don´t have one at the moment. Do have 4 vans though, 3 swedish ones and a Willerby Vogue from 1957. Cheers, Alan |

Hi Alan! Not so far away, I'm about 10kms north of Örebro!
I don't suppose you know where to get spares in Sweden? I had a jockey wheel sent over from the UK as it's a completely non-European size. I've been stuck for about four months looking for 13" hub caps. |

Sorry John. The genreal agent for Sprite was here but there are no spares or anything else for that matter left. Caravans turn up a scrap yards sometimes. You could always ask. Then there is -Blocket- if some one is selling an old van for spares. There is a club called -Campingveteranerna- that have a website with a -for sale- section. That´s about it.

Thanks Alan. I've found a list of UK caravan breakers whom I will email in ernest.
The stupid thing is that there are two old sprite chassis in the village where I live, both with hub caps, but they are both 14" wheels. Sod's law. |

I've managed to get some sent over from England, but thank you very much for the offer. I've a few posts, PMs etc, thank you to everyone!
Does anyone know how abundant 1960s Alpines are? |

| Mid 60s Sprite Alpines are pretty common still though I suspect few are in use for camping still - I know of several 60s ones around here on farms or in horses fields. The mid 60s onwards Sprite 400s are also pretty common, with a steady trickle finding there way onto ebay and often prettied up with a bit of cath kidston fabric!. The mid 60s onwards Musketeers turn up from time to time, but any sprite pre 1964 and particularly the larger vans are pretty rare if not extinct these days. Being fairly cheap caravans and in the past thought of as plentiful and of no interest to the classic caravan clubs and enthusiasts most early sprites have long since been scrapped. They were no more prone to rot than any other van, they were just cheap vans originally and so when they were 15 - 20 years old they sold for nothing, so most became roadworks site huts, sheds or used for banger racing, etc. Go to any rally and you will see a row of safaris, cheltenhams, etc but rarely even a single sprite and that will most likely be a late 60s/ early 70s one. Shame! |
