Ah childhood memories. My dad used to drive those and when I was a nipper (I'm now 55 so work it out) he used to take me to work with him if he did a Sunday shift. I would sit in the seat behind the cab while we did routes around Northampton. His clippy would give me a ticket every so often in case an inspector got on. The highlight was stopping on the market square to get our flasks made up at the inspectors box there and eating cold bacon and egg sarnies Smile


Anyway if I did not have the car I would be able to complete my Marklin 'z' scale (1:220) model railway layout that seems to be taking for ever.

I have always fancied building WW1 and 2 scale madel fighter planes. Not to fly just for the sake of building them. Is that wierd?

I used to do that back in the early 50s. They were meant to fly but seldom did. But the designing and building was the most enjoyable and rewarding part. Then came motorbikes, drinking, girls and having to study and work for a living. I still hanker for them sometimes (the girls that is.) Wink

Hmm, if no old cars then I'd spend a lot more time with Meccano and old Hornby Trains, have a lot more time to train for the triathlon I've been threatening myself with doing, and then I've always fancied a canal boat, or some other older boat to play with and when I get bored I could volunteer at the nearby preserved railway.
Probably a good thing I'm into old cars really... Smile

That is a nice example. Saved before the rot set in. I did my PSV from Potters Bar Garage in 1974. RTs. When I got to Chalk Farm Garage it was all RM and RMLs. I can say that the total width of a RT including blinkers is exactly the same as the width of a RM minus the blinkers. Found that out after a few days on the 24s. Bus went into the slot at the pavement but as I turned the nose out again slightly I had the width of the RT in my skull. Clipped the blinker clean off at the join with the body when it hit a panelvan. It hung there by it´s 2 wires and was still working when I got down to the next stage stop (white) where an inspector saw it swaying on its wires, blinking away. He stepped up and wrenched it off, came round to the cab door and gave it to me. Told me to get the bus changed and tell them what happened at the garage on my break.
I see that this one has the original blinkers on it. Most of the renovated buses have had the blinkers changed, nice to see the original ones, sets the bus off in some way Wink
