Hi.
I am a new member, but long time classic car owner. I have owned all sorts, including Sunbeam Alpines, Jaguar 420g, Rover P5B coupe, Volvo P1800, Ginetta G15, and loads more.

Due to time restrictions, and pure lazyness, I now own 2 'modern' (an arguement for another day) classics, a Jaguar XJV8 and an MGF VVC.

I bought them both in france, very cheap, both uk registered, and then changed headlights and re registered them here.

They are both up for sale, as I would like an XK8. I have been so impressed with the reliability of the Jaguar, I thought I would go the whole hog!. The Jag was our everyday car when we had the misfortune to but the most unreliable car I have ever owned BY FAR, a Renault Espace. 2 previous Renaults, Scenic and Laguna, had been supurb reliable cars!!

The jag took us back to the UK twice, 27 mpg, comfort, style, if you want an interesting car to use every day, give one a go. It has never let us down and is simplicity itself to work on (for a modern car). Even dropping the back axle off for new rear shocks only took about 5 hours.

I attend any classic car shows here, although being a se londoner, and attending Bromley Pagent since the early days, most are slightly smaller here. I have friends also old car enthusiasts, so I always have helping hands to rely on if I need it

If anyone is also in central France, north Limousin area, say hi.

Paul

Hi.
Thanks for the welcomes.

Yes, I live about 10 minutes north of La Souterraine. Do you drive down in a classic? If you do, brave man.

Paul

I do drive a classic car around the local area I visit in the Dordogne and visit other areas in the Dordogne or neighbouring districts in general.

It is 650 miles door to door when I travel down, driving a classic car would not worry me much,I cover perhaps 200 miles on a Sunday here in the UK when I attend some shows or events.

I go the more tranquil route Calais,Rouen,Evreux,Chartres,Orleans,Chateauroux,Limoges and Brive.

I am also a new forum member and like you plan to be living in France within the next 12 months ( probably the Vendée ). I do plan to either drive or have my A10 ( 1935) trailer'ed to france.

I understand that there is a good club at Niort.
