EUROPEAN CLASSIC CARAVAN RALLY 9-12 May 2013 – Lowenstein, Germany.
Since 1996 the European Classic Caravan Clubs organize an annual rally in a different Country. Up to 200 caravans from all over Europe meet for a four day event.
In 2013, it is the 25 Anniversary of the Camping Oldie Club of Germany and the ECCR is at Campingpark Breitenauer See, 74245 Löwenstein, Germany (Approx 30 miles north of Stuttgart) from Thursday 9 May 2013 – Sunday 12 May 2013.
Timetable
THURSDAY – Arrive and reception in the evening
FRIDAY – Local Excursion
SATURDAY – Caravan “Open Door” and Boot Sale. Modern Towcars to be moved to main car park. EVENING – Dinner Dance and Presentations
SUNDAY – Farewells and departure.
I have been to eight of the last ten ECCR meetings, some have only been 70 miles from Calais but in 2011 I did 2300 miles when the event was held in Sweden.
Every year try to encourage more British classic caravanners to attend. In some years there have only been two outfits with GB plates and in other years as many as 10. You do not have to tow with a classic car, although many of us do. I am happy to provide advice and assistance to anyone wanting to go this year from the UK.
Lowenstein is about 470 miles from Calais/Dunkerque, so to keep my costs to a minimum, I will travel Dover/Dunkerque in the early hours of Tuesday, have a brief sleep near Dunkerque and set off around 8.00am to drive about 300-350 miles on the Wednesday, stay just over the French/German border over night and then complete the 100-150 miles on the Thursday morning.
The cost for three nights pitch, including electrical hook-up, the dinner dance, and reception is 100 Euros for one person or 125 Euros for two adults and children, and 20 euros for additional nights. Ferry costs will be around £100-£150 depending on the time of your crossing.

I did not quote the Caravan Club member prices, as a lot of classic owners are not members.
But have just got my night time crossings for £58 return through the CC so it might even be worth joining! _________________ Brian
