Everybody is talking about Japanese cars being the next "craze" well one thing is for sure, they are hard to find, as they rusted SOO easy.
You hardly see ANY 60/70/early80 Japanese cars overhere.

Ohh we like that Wink
I once took my Volvo 122 Sport to a Jaguar meeting, and parked it next to the entry gate, as I ofcourse couldnt get in.
soon the Jaag owners started to wonder why everybody was so interested in my car Question
you should have seen their faces, when they saw the Daimler 2.5 V8 in my engine compartment Laughing Laughing

I have seen atleast 2 articles in car mags, regarding Japanes cars being the next thing.

Not sure if it will catch on ? but thats what they predicted.

Edit, did a Google = http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/2012/01/23/early-japanese-classics-among-top-emerging-collectibles-says-hagerty/

I have noticed amongst my friends the tendency to buy classic cars they had associations with in their youth, whether a family saloon, or if funds allow a bedroom wall poster car. The mundane Japanese car of those coming on in years are in the first category. It is already happening in America, and on sites such as Retrorides. It needs encouragement as these cars were innovative, if only in mechanical build quality, look under an old Honda and then look at the suspension and running gear of a contemporary Euro saloon. The classic car hobby needs to evolve constantly, when a lot of us were kids, car shows had pre war cars, and cars from the 50's and 60's were just, well, transport.

Interesting. Mate of mine a few years ago reckoned everyone would be wanting Datsuns. He bought one, shown here at the start of a show in Ripon (we were first to be parked up on that line)

he bought the car, is reasonable condition from Slough, took it to this show, one other then stripped the thing to make it concourse. Sadly, like most other projects he does, he lost interest and the car was sold in bits for someone else to reassemble

Thats the sad tale of many cars/projects Rolling Eyes

Wonder how many classics that are out there ? according to FIVA there are 1.5 million historic vehicles registred in EU, but how high is the total ?

Just in my garage, I have 9 cars, which are not registred, and I know of a aircraft hangar not far from me, thats filled with classic cars,
nearly all are unregistred, this is just 2 small local places in small DK, so I wonder how high the real number is Shocked Shocked Shocked

I did show my Traveller a couple of times before I started to restore it(7 years ago now!), but sitting looking at it all day was not for me, and most people don't seem to regard my Range Rover LSE as a classic, so I've never shown it, other than once with my Royale caravan.

That's not nice and as you weren't born in Wales wrong !! it's odd how we can be so regionally offensive , had they more accurately called you a "clay head" you would have smiled and laughed it off!
