hi interesting van i had chance to have a good look over this van some 10 years ago it was for sale then for 10k , the van looks to be in the same condition now as it was then the link to coco the clown is sound there is several plaque's in van that was given to him ,
As for the van itself externally the roof needed recovering a repaint and fresh Tyre's would have got it back on the road
its the interior that had me puzzled the layout is wrong, the end where the pics are taken from contains no furniture when you look around the van there is evidence of removed partition walls , theres no sink ,no bed, no cooking facility's and yes i now there was not fitted in showmans vans but this van is a tourer in shape, my thoughts at the time was the showman's interior came out of an small box type showman's van still a very pretty van hope it gos to a good home OVM.

That's very interesting, you mentioning no 'kitchen end', I wondered why the photos are all 'one way'...... I dont suppose the 'Queen' stove is original either. Do you think that's the original colour externally? Ken. |

HI the van was semi restored for display in a small museum this was where the van was when i viewed it, the then owner having rescued the van from the bonfire !
as for the color i seem to remember different colors under the top coat
going back to the interior when you look at the fittings for instance the fire surround the top, is not cut to fit the shape of the celling likewise the seating is rather crudely cut to fit,
A good friend of mine had a 40s burlingham in un-restored condition and the quality of the joinery was second to none,
So i think theres a story be hide this van that we will probably never know !
going back to when i viewed the van, i tried to link this van to coco i found archive pics of the circus and the clown and the only vans that where in there was large 4 wheel showman's type, you might have more luck than me on that one Ken !
As for the Queenie stove, that was fitted by the then owner
as we know a hostess or a little nipper would be more correct !
like i have said this is my personal view and i don't want to point fault at the overview given buy the auctioneers ! OVM |

Sounds to me its fairly well over priced, if its interior isnt original and the outside shape isnt exactly exciting. Looks a bit like an Eccles Alert, but bigger. _________________ I can resist anything except temptation ! ( Oscar Wilde)
