If I put stickers on any of my cars they would have to be age related...and tasteful ! I'm sure there would have been stuff in the 30s', 40's and 50's war or ration related ?

I think "Running in Please Pass" was all one saw much of in the fifties. Not much rear window on a Morris 8 or similar. Later on in the sixties "Ten Year Tested" made an appearance by way of bragging I suppose. There were some cars with lots of those triangular flag like stickers - "I've camped at ???? Sands" or "I've been to Hunstanton" and that sort of thing I recall but it seemed a minority taste.
The windscreens on my Alvis and the MG too flipping small really for anything mores the pity as I have quite a collection of unused stickers of various clubs etc etc.
Somewhere here I've one of those Tiger Tails - little the worst for the passage of time rather like me - these were highly desirable swop items when I was at school. Big John will have to watch out for snippers if he parks that lovely Rover! _________________ Jonathan Butler

When we had the VW camper we used to stick little pennants on the side window of the places we visited, the window was behind a cupboard so we couldn't see out of it anyway! Nowadays I dont bother, getting boring in my old age I guess?

Over 50 years ago I put strips of checkered tape along the side of my Morris 8. I'm sure it gave me an extra couple of mph. _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. I have written a book though. https://amzn.eu/d/7rwRRqL |

I love age related stickers......... In my 'Arfur Daley' days I would seek out the merchandise kit from the 'right' main dealer and add value to a car to be traded in the local paper! "NASH of CARDIFF" instead of Empress Car Sales had to be worth an extra 50 quid on any self respecting Cavalier!
My Jag estate wasn't complete without tax disc holder, rear window sticker and number plates from H.R.Owen - They gave me a set for free (probably thinking I was nuts!)
The Checker has an original bumper sticker "Work harder - Millions on welfare are depending on you!"
The 2002 has a couple of stickers waiting for its restoration.... My staff pass from our local TV station HTV and a Townsend Thoresen GB plate. |
