Thats the only subject name I could think of.
In my estate I only have a BL factory fitted radio and the ariel is on the back wing. I moved it from the front wing as they are mud traps.
I have a radio cassette to fit but I will fit that later as it is a perfect fit where the radio goes.
What I dont like to see is a classic car with an MP3 player fitted. It just doesnt look right.
What do you have in your classic ? _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

In my green Mini Special, i have the original Phillips radio, and singel rear parcel shelf speaker, that was fitted here in Denmark by the British Leyland import / dealers.
My 1966 Volvo has its original Volvo radio made by Bendix USA, with a original AM/LM antenna.
The Wood & Pickett have a Radiomobile 8 track, and radio, with Voxson speakers (genuine W&P items)
The roof arieal will be changed before summer, as I have found a NOS World radio (with original invoice from W&P )
bought the same time as my car was delivered to its first owner The anorak will know the difference on a repro (plasic tip) or a NOS/original = metal tip. _________________ http://www.eurods.eu/wp/index.html |

I like the sound of my Riley too much to drown it out with music. Though it's only a four cylinder B Series engine, it has as distinctive a sound as a Morris Minor or Beetle, both of which I've also enjoyed listening to. |

I have the original Radiomobile, 2 speaker, (front/rear and balance) mono. LW/MW, push button radio, but I have an MP3 fly lead coming from the back so it looks original, but I can select what I want to play. |

I thought about such a conversion too, as the AM/LM radio dont get many stations
But I enjoy the silence when I drive, its only when I have people with me, I show them that the 8 track DO work quit nice sound acually. _________________ http://www.eurods.eu/wp/index.html |

In the Mark 2 I have a Radiomobile five push button radio which I removed from (sorry Larry - Marina Estate) a 1972 Morris Marina 1.3 Coupe which was on it's way to the scrapyard in 1993.
It works quite well on long wave but not on medium. The original Motorola in the Mark 2 was stolen together with the Fogranger lamps when the car was in storage.
There's no point putting any ICE in the Land Rover - you'd never hear it. _________________ Starting Handle Expert

Our 1957 Chevrolet has a 'period' reproduction radio fitted in the US before it was exported to the UK. The nice thing is it has modern components inside with the cassette player hidden behind a trim plate - however we discovered the radio only works on American frequencies, which aren't available here in the UK.
The good news is when on holiday in Florida we found a company that sells tapes of period radio stations, so now when we go to shows we listen to WRM St Louis, etc complete with period jingles and products - cool man! |

For you older members, I did my apprenticeship at Ekco in Southend so was involved with Ekco radios, including the car radios. (As a draftsman)
On arrival in Australia I started work with Radio Corporation Pty Ltd in Melbourne, makers of ASTOR radios and TV, a very popular brand locally. I was on car radio design. Then the Japs struck in about 1970 and the whole Australian radio/industry folded.
