The Caravan Club April 2013 magazine (En Route as was) has gone all vintage. It has a Car Cruiser Carousel on the front cover, being towed by a Vauxhall Victor. This outfit enjoys a 4-page article inside, with back-up from a 33-yr-old Safari (afternoon Brian) and several letters and photos from caravanners remembering "the good old days".
On another tack: I noticed it was free listing on eBay this weekend, so I have been digging out some stuff to put on (just got my salmon fishing club subs renewal!).
I came across this gem - I forgot I had it. I thought a few on here would maybe have a copy?
It is a hard-bound brochure from "The Holiday Caravan Co" of Oxford. They were a firm that supplied new caravans but also had a thriving trade in hiring them out. This dates from 1927 or maybe 1928. There are graphic descriptions of Eccles caravans, 8 models in all, and also camping trailers, camping equipment - it's a classic caravanner's feast!

Afternoon Alec - As you might imagine the Caravan Club article about the old couple with the Safari has caused some amusement - there never was a 16/2 Safari! _________________ Brian

The Car Cruiser is owned by our PCCC club treasurer.
That little book is wonderful, I'll have to keep an eye open for one on the Bay. _________________ I can resist anything except temptation ! ( Oscar Wilde)

Yes I did notice this, but it did say in the text that there were no towing mirrors as it was a posed photo, so perhaps the same applied to the tow bar? |
