Welcome to the forum Dave.
Mechanical parts shouldn't be a problem, keep an eye on ebay as most of the running gear will be shared with the contemporary Austin Cambridge saloons. If you get stuck, specialists such as Earlpart will probably be able to help with most things, but there are quite a few traders out there who specialise either in BMC (Austin, Morris etc) cars, or specific parts for all cars (eg clutch seals, wheel bearings and similar).
It might be worth picking up a few classic car and van/pickup type magazines, that'll give you a head start with identifying the best suppliers of parts.

Hello Dave,
I have an A55 MK1 saloon. Earlpart are your best bet for parts, mechanical bits are mostly the same as the A55 MK2 and other Farinas and are quite reasonably priced. Body panels are very rare, front wings are made from unobtanium (although fibreglass ones are avaliable). Doors and window seals are unavaliable, as are most of the pickup rear panels. Open the bonnet and check the inner wings carefully for rot or poor welding as there is a terrible mud trap with the box section behind them. If you look under the front wings there are two ventilation holes in the box section at the top, these allow mud and salt to get into the box section and sit there until it rots out into the engine bay! If it's sound in this area get some wax in there and get those holes sealed off pronto.
Obviously then it's the usual, sills, spring hangers, front crossmember behind the fairing panel, outriggers (check a triangular plate hasn't been welded over the rusty originals to pass an MoT) and the usual engine checks. _________________ Richard Hughes |

Small van prices have shot up, easy to fit in your drive or garage and are always useful. Always like d the A55 van but wouldn't mind the panel van version. |
