photo taken today at Hebden bridge of a 'bull nose morris'
is the gear drive on the wheel for the speedo? if not, what is it for?

| Yes, indeed, that's the speedo drive. Early cars did not have speedos as standard, so there was no gear drive off the gearbox or rear axle. |

Hi
Are you sure it isn't a very early form of ABS?
When I first saw the above I thought they were an electronic speedo drive, It seems that every time something new comes out it has already been done before though maybe for a different purpose. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

I suppose you could say that learning, at last, what speed you were going enabled you to avoid skidding by warning you of the increased risk levels; thus it does do a similar job even if it isn't autonomous.  _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.
