Prompted by the lively debate about Engine Oil, how about the humble screwdriver.

Paint Can opener.

Lever.

Punch

are just a few of their uses. However I do have a good set that are used only for their intended purpose. (Most of the time)

Its not the first time I have had to puncture through an oil filter to get it off because someone had screwed it on too tight

I find an ordinary screwdriver an invaluable tool for opening those f****** horrible ring pull food cans. Seriously, what on earth was wrong with a can opener?

Also used at the top of the door to help get the coat hanger hook past the seals in order to pop the lock button or hook the door handle.
Not needed so often for this after the invention of plastic packaging strip.

Hi
Re the above, I once locked myself out of a Mini, around '66, with the engine still running, I got back in by using something from under the bonnet.

What was it and how did I use it to gain entry?

Maybe a screwdriver you keep under the bonnet somewhere in case you lock yourself out. Laughing

Push the dipstick between the two sliding windows, press the little chrome button catch & open the window. (This assumes the catches haven't been reversed).
