Assuming most of you use water and blue anti-freeze what water do you use? Tap water, rain water or deionised water? Must confess I've used tap water until now but I thought perhaps I should use rain water from the butt. Then someone suggested that's not PH balanced. Does that matter, what's best?
Thoughts? Rich... |

I don't own a pre war car but ever since my Triumph Dolomite Sprint and Stag days I have used, still do, distilled water and Bluecol in a 50/50 mix.
I use the same mix in the Land Rover 2a and the Jaguar Mark 2.. _________________ Starting Handle Expert

Hi
If you live in an area where your kettle furs up I would suggest not using tap water. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

| Indeed, not just pre-war but all classic cars. Yes, not tap water in my area but I was considering rainwater. on another tread deionised seems to be the favourite. |

My water supply is either rain off the roof collected in a 5,000 gallon tank, or a supply by pumping from the river.
The river water is fine for toilet flushing, garden watering and filling the cattle trough, but the rain water is used all other purposes- drinking, washing, cooking, and naturally to top up the radiators of the 'fleet'. No need for antifreeze here, but I do add corrosion inhibitor. _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking. |

The water round here is not soft but neither does excessive hard scale build up. I have always used tap water including the pre-war Rover and land Rovers _________________ Rover P2

| I use water from a dehumidifier. I'm hoping that since it is condensed water vapour it must be closely related to distilled water! |

| Very hard water here. Locals advise adding a bit of white vinegar, which is something I use in the washing machine, dishwasher, kettle and coffee maker to de-fur. it's cheap and works wonders. |

Tap water, wherever I am. That's all I drink too*, and I'm not yet dead!
*(except for beer and whisky, of course!) |
