Hi
Could you take the photo from a bit further away, so they are in focus, or is it that part of the challenge?
Like those "recognise this from an unfamiliar angle" quizzes. |

i'll hazard a guess that you found these in a very bad place; inside the combustion chamber? i'll then hazard that they are the missing washers from your air cleaners; the nuts possibly too heavy to be pulled into the carb throat, but washers light enough?
if not, then i'm scuppered as to what they are. |

Here is a better picture for those of you who are still puzzled. The big clue is the line which can be seen on the l/h one The Rover is a '46 ten _________________ To Hell with ambition, it drives a man mad, I can scarcely wake up to be fed. |

Well done Art, they are indeed valve heads (both exhaust). The slot on the l/h one is for a screwdriver for grinding in the valve. The head broke off its stem, once in 1987 and another in about 1998, different cylinders. The inlet valves and the pistons hammered the heads into these shapes before I switched off/pulled up. On neither occassion was I going fast, both times about 45-50mph. I found the valve heads in the sump each time. Here is the piston from the first time which happened on the A1 on the way to Cambridge. Guess what I said at the time.

Hi
I expect you said something like I just did when I saw your last picture, not to be repeated in public however!
Cheers
