My Eccles has its cooker situated next to the wardrobe, under an crockery cupboard and on other side of cooker the sink unit, as standard set out in 1930. Only the crockery cupboard has any type of fire proof material in the form of an sheet of tin tacked to the underside of the cupboard, even this has had an hole cut into it and therefore renders it useless!
My cooker is an modern two burner with oven propane affair which I intend to use (I do have the old paraffin cooker which is display only). My question is I need to cover exposed 'at risk' board with some form of fire proof material, suggestions appreciated. Smile

I used Masterboard which I bought at B&Q. Easy to cut and drill; similar to asbestos but without added death.

Hi Gillberry, unfortunately I am unable to post pictures, but if I can email some to yourself or other forum member perhaps you may do the honours for me?

Thanks for tip Uncle Alec. Very Happy

Polished ali with some insulation behind it does the trick and looks vintage, the ali reflects the heat very well.

Sounds like perfect solution, presume alli was used as original fire proofing. Anyhow I can easily get an sheet of that and glue some fibreglass insulation to the back of it. Thanks.

I should add that I faced the Masterboard with aluminium sheet. Eggs & bacon slide off a treat.

Wow love it, if I was ever to get a 'van it'd have to be something from the 20s or the early 30s Cool
