Split screen Series 2 Morris Minor saloon car.

Des dropped me a line, wondering if I could suggest any ways that he could track the current whereabouts of this splitscreen Series II Morris Minor, registration HVG 59. It belonged to his grandfather until 1959, when it was sold. According to the DVLA site, there is still a record of this car in existence, therefore the car may still exist - or else the car may have been scrapped and the licencing people not notified. Perhaps someone in a Morris club could advise on whether the car appears in their records at all?

Update on this classic Morris.
Des' photo of his grandfather's Morris was published on the site in July 2007. In May 2010 news came through regarding the current state-of-play regarding this car. Yes, it is still around and still in regular use, sharing a driveway with a Morris Traveller in the Ipswich area. Thanks to Richard on the forum for flagging this with me, and Mike for the use of his photo showing the car. I'll pass Mike's details onto Des, in the hope that the current owner and Des can be put in touch with each other.
