More about Pete's Austin A30

This A30 is a late example of the AS3, built shortly before the revised (AS4) A30 came along. The AS3 can be quickly identified from the AS4 thanks to the petrol filler cap being located on the back wing, rather than in the back panel. The chrome grille is smaller on the AS3 A30, with a separate winged Austin badge just above it. The hubcaps are slightly different, and the earliest AS3s also had internal rear bootlid hinges. Internally the dashboard is different, featuring a circular speedometer and slightly different switchgear to later cars.

This example was purchased new in 1953 by two sisters, who employed a chauffeur to whisk them around the leafy lanes of Shropshire, keeping the car until 1981. Pete bought the car early in 2004, with less than 30,000 miles on the clock. Unlike many A30s, this one retains its original registration number, has had no welding underneath, and still has its original black paint and immaculate interior. Since buying it he's put about 5,000 miles on this 'baby Austin', using it regularly on the roads of Cheshire and Shropshire.

More photos will be added to my A30 site shortly.
