| That is a lot of car, and that 6 litre engine must drink some fuel. Would be a rare one when done though. |

I spotted this the other evening too and jumped to the same conclusion as Rootes75, but it is model 6L with a 2.7l engine. So fuel consumption should not silence the bandsaws!

Sunbeam in an effort to keep financially afloat (going bust in 1935) used up all sorts of bits lying around the factory it seems. The 20hp in this advt probably has the small bore version of the 20.9hp engine from the 1920's which can be I believe bored to 75mm and 2916cc as originally intended.I will have to check up when I'm back home. In any event 6L refers to a six light saloon and I would expect it should be good for around 17-18 mpg going on the figures for my old 1928 20.9hp. Awful lot of work and expense here they are well engineered cars but not the easiest to work on plus parts sources are limited due to the variety of models made. _________________ Jonathan Butler

This rather earlier "utility" attracted a lot of interest and mouth watering at Beaulieu last year, but it wasn't what you'd call "priced to sell".

It looks British and has proper centre lock wheels which narrows it down a bit. Despite it being a "Sunbeam Garage" it doesn't look like one. I wonder if it might be a Lea Francis?

Not a Leaf but suspect it is one of the last proper (ie Wolverhampton) Sunbeams.
The Collis family who run the garage are or were when I dealt with them specialists in these.
The pick up is well known and was I think a saloon originally. It is a 20.9hp with 6 cylinder 2916cc engine. I ran for 20 years or so a two seat and dickey version of this model. Well made smooth powerful and a little thirsty but an excellent touring car. _________________ Jonathan Butler

What was the price on the utility?? I thought it was a bit odd reading it as a 6 litre engine rather than a 6 cylinder in a Sunbeam  |
