Evening all,

Have the Brits ever made really good, mass-produced, woodie estate cars?

The Morris 1000 Traveller was a success. But there've been a few duffers along the way - stick-on wood effect on various cars springs to mind for starters.

Are there (m)any good/successful Brit-built woodie estate cars out there, bar the Moggy? Or should the whole notion have been left to the US car makers to churn out, which - in the early/mid-20th century - they did with some aplomb?

Do you have any favourite woodies? Or have you ever owned one?

RJ

How about one of these?
A Morris Isis S3 Traveller :

Not strictly a woody but I have fascinated by the Consul/Ford Cortina Mk1 "Woody" estate since my childhood. There was one in the village in the mid 1960s, a yellow one owned by a local carpenter. I am almost certain that it had a white contrasting roof.

I liked the look of my father's A40 Devon and it was a very practical car but it was certainly not a mass production item. I don't think I ever saw an identical one.

I like this Alvis TA for its clean lines (and lovely condition). It has a Jensen estate body.
