Hi
Anyone got a link where I can search for a registration, to see if it is still around?
Cheers

I just used a link to search for one of my old cars and found it! Is it possible to find out the owners address somehow? Preferably without it costing anything.... I could think of buying it back if it was for sale...

I was really a bit surprised to see that this car was still on record, it blew its engine 10 days after I sold it, depositing the contents of its sump at some traffic lights. I did see that its colour had been changed however, so maybe its been restored since then?
Anyone have the address for the DVLA, or alternatively, is someone willing to help? Maybe by keeping an eye out for it at meetings, and helping me contact the owner that way?

Hi UJ what car was it then if I may ask?
You r lucky to have at least a chance of finding a car with the dvla, over here its much more difficult, my grandparents had a morris 1100 mark 1 (1 of the earliest) and untill 1998 it was still in very good condition though had been resprayed in a different colour and then my uncle sold it for peanuts, wish I could unearth it somewhere but chances are it got scrapped as soon after it was involved in an slight accident and never seen it again.
Should have kept, I know its nothing special but I have fond memories of it!!! |

It was a 1966 Plymouth Fury III 4dht, one of only 33 922 made...
But a very special car to me....

I sold it either 78 or 79, not sure...
Its strange that I can even remember the registration number. One thing that would be interesting to me is to see the rear number plate, if it is still te same after all these years. I got rear ended a few days after I bought it, and a Marina (?) ended up dead...the only damage to the Plymouth was the 'loop' broke off one of the letters (P) on the number plate, which I painted back on! The memories are flooding back now.....
I hope that some kind person on the forum can help me with this in some way. It will be so difficult to do from here though..love to get that car back in my ownership.
I know that I have some photos of it, they are a bit faded now, but if I can find them, I'll scan and post...

to be honest as far as I know (and I dont know everything even though I am a woman!!) it is not possible for you to obtain current owner information that easily. You can write to the DVLA and ask DVLA, Swansea SA99 1BD but I doubt it will get you anywhere. If you have and friends in the motor insurance industry, all cars now appear on the motor insurance database that are insured, so the company that currently insures any particular car will be shown but this is more for people who have suffered a hit and run but have managed to write the reg number down prior to the car making off.
Sorry basically I am of no help. |

Norfolk: Dont worry about not helping, you have tried, and thats the point of this forum, trying to help other people...
I suppose now that I know it still exists, I could ask forum members to keep a look out at meetings and so on, or even put an ad in something like Classic American, you never know! Trouble is, if the owner gets wind, the price might rise....
