Hello all,
New member, hopefully I am posting in the correct pace!
Found, bought and brought home just this alloy body with steel wings (wings similar to MG TC) has bench seat, folding top, looks RHD. No bonnet, radiator, chassis, engine or gearbox.
Have no idea what it is, any ideas?
Thanks, John B

Hi John,
Welcome to the forum.
I don't think it's an MG of any description. The fuel tank and front valance and the steel structure suggest that it might be a replica. Possibly a Wolseley Hornet replica??

I don't think it is a Wolseley. I had a '33 MG Magnette (same car) for a short while and although the four seater body looks similar it's the bonnet louvres for me that makes it a non Nuffield product. The brake drums AIRC filled the wheel rims too so I assume the Wolseley would have too. What about a Squire?

Sorry Art, The photo you are referring to is one I used as an example of a car that I thought John's shell might be a "replica" of. I admit it's not a very close replica. It's probably not intended to replicate any particular car but just to look like a 1930s two seater in general.

Peter,
Confused of Bothwell made that reply. I missed the link in the OP and was using 'your' picture as reference.

Hi
But what is that panel (5th pic) with the louvres and the domed type piece in the centre?
Could it be an apron from between the front mudguards and in front of the Rad, perhaps covering a blower. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

I wonder if:
The front wings were put on the opposite sides
& then see if the louvered piece lines up somehow.
The 'fuel tank' at the back looks a bit big to me, although it seems to have a filler cap, it also has a big bolt on the side - is it a cover for a VW engine, perhaps? _________________ Mike - MVPeters at comcast.net

It's a very stylised apron and doesn't look as if it ever contained a blower. I think it's just a "look alike" blower cover. (Where does the carb and air intake fit?)

Not a VW knock-off for sure, the apron or filler panel with louvres is definitely the connector panel between the wings in front of the rad. Has a starter handle hole.... no room for blower.
Not sure why so many instruments on passenger side, and left side is the passenger side as grab handle there too.
If I find more clues on the shell I will let you know!
Thanks for the suggestions,

Probably for better instrument visibility?
Plus, better access for instrument maintenance?
Is that part of a torque tube sitting on top? |

This looks like a genuine Wolseley Hornet to me. The radiator does not look like MG. |
