Hi all, had a quick trip up to our nations capital on the weekend . Took our '49 Ford pickup and trailer to pick up an engine and drop off a Jag diff, got very wet Shocked ...think I broke the drought Laughing, here's sunny Canberra...

...on the way back we took some pics of a yard close to the Hume Hwy,

a row of vintage portable engines

a Jeep forward control...CMP Blitz in the background, and an unhappy early Landy

there's a pair of Ford Flathead V8's on the back of the Jeep, Thames cab in the grass and a Humber 4wd in the rear..

a very early Albion tandem drive with semi trailer still attatched, and a KB series Inter.

an early series Blitz and the back of a 20's Chevy ute

unidentified WW2 Tank hull

a few of the tractors and stationary engines

and a few more...

These pics were shot from inside the truck, too wet to get closer...maybe keeping still would have been a good thing Smile

Welcome , come in , say hello.....NOT Laughing

You make me very envious, what a place Ausralia must be for classic vehicle buffs. I'm constantly being amazed at the amount of "discoveries" that are still out there for you guys.

How do you fancy a house-trained lodger for a few months (just joking)! Very Happy

Scotty. Wink

Scotty, a pal of mine in Oz regularly sends me photos taken while he's out and about, some of which are in this gallery:

(the SS Jag might make one or two people sob a little Wink)

Theres a guy near me has a field full of portables, it's where they run the Preston (nr Canterbury) steam fair each year. You don't need to go to OZ.

Hi

You are refering to Michael List Brain, from preston Services ( www.prestonservices.co.uk )

He deals in engines and has probably near 200 engines, and I have often thought about making a trip down there, but it is quite a distance from here, it would have to be a few days!

Cheers

Hi

Well now you mention it.....

What I meant was travel there one day, stop over, spend a day there, then stop over and drive back on day three. 4 gears in a mini have there disadvantages on motorway journeys!

Maybe a 3 speed Ford would be more suitable!

Cheers

Dave
