Well, just goes to show that ingenuity (or ham-fisted gibbonry, you decide!) will live on long after the original perpetrator has hung up their spanners! Are you putting it all back to 'factory spec' or replacing modified like-for-like? Either is part of its history now, so as long as the modification was safe and worked well, then who are we to pick sides?

A lot of times the only difference between a brake and clutch cylinder is the fitting of a residual line pressure valve on the brake cylinder, it's not uncommon to find them fitted that way, especially on Lockheed cylinders. (at least it's not uncommon in country Western Australia)

Well, the cylinder is roughly a third of the price of the original, and I would have to re-pipe to accommodate the the original back into the system so my plan is to replace with what's been on there for the last few decades.

I mean, it works. It was modified to take it by a Rootes dealership so I presume this might have been a 'get around' back in the day.

We got hold of a new Master Cylinder through Powertrack brakes, we fitted it on Saturday and bled the system through thoroughly....

There's a but...

Still no pressure in the pedal, nothing. We then tried the handbrake and that pulls fully up with no pressure and I led under while it was pulled and the rear brake tree barely moves...

We have a show next weekend so that's now a no go...we will have to get her out the shed and remove the rear wheels and drums to see what is not moving or out of place.
