Hi
I have finished welding my screen frame, now just need to make, drill and tap the angled joining pieces for the bottom, may weld some or cut some from some plate.
I have one spare, that I will make useable at least.
Some pics later hopefully!
Cheers

Hi
Pics:-
Still needs painting properly, just painted it quickly to stop the rust setting in on the welds and ground bits, then thought I may as well paint the lot!
hehe
Needs painting again though, and before fitting, will put either some vaseline or red rubber grease in, under the rubber seal, and a bit around the rubber seal by the glass, so should combat any water!
Solid now at least!
Cheers
Dave
P.S... I have one of the hinge fixings thats holds the bonnet on, but need one to go on the grille if anyone has one? |

Hi
Yeah I am pleased with it, I could have got it perfect, smoothe and shiny, but it is not really what I wanted. To do this I would have had to apply some polly, and I think it is better being metal, showing a little pitting, to show it is old etc.
I think I may make a small ford spares order up, so will try to get a bonnet thingy there.
Cheers

Hi
The spare has rot at the bottoms, I sand blasted it, so can see what needs doing to it. Ideally I will get another rotten one to let new pieces in. They do rot quite alot, so may have one as a spare not sure. Do you need one?
Cheers

Did you do the bends, or cut and weld?
I need a new screen surround, and I have been looking for a way to get the curves.

Hi
Luckily the curves were ok on my frame, just the lower sections that need repairing.
Cheers

| They normally rot at the bottom corners on mine when the seal deteriorated the water went in at the top of the frame via acouple of holes on the frame and the water sat inside the frame at he bottom the other thing that is a problem is the drain holes in the cab get blocked so the water sits in the frame channel at each end of the screen and the screen rots from the outside why they didnt make them in brass is beyond me i have a reasonable screen but the glass is shot the problem will be pulling it apart to refit the glass the original windscreen had rotted away brentnz |

Hi
I have a rotten frame or two somewhere here, not sure where though! they will need repairing or making a good one from the two at some point.
Not sure on the brass one, it could be quite dear, witht he price of brass, and the extrusion or cross section is quite a complicated one if he is going to try and match that. Would be interested to know how much they cost should he find out?
There are plenty of e83W's both vans, pickups and other coach built examples, so there could be people interested in a brass one, could be worth asking in the ford sidevalve club magazine?
Cheers

Thanks for the reply buzzy you have done a very good job of yours,my other half is concidering repairing the friends one,but if an easier option is available saves the hassle & if brass ones would be popular may be worth having a batch made up,they would look nice in brass The guy just needs one to use as a pattern for the brass ones,I will tell my friend. |
