Hi,

We're on the lookout for some of these for the Dodge's wheel cylinders .. can anyone suggest a supplier? I've looked on the Namrick site but can only find 3/8 UNF

Just a thought, are you sure that the fittings are UNC and not BSW? I thought UNC and BSW threads matched and made up OK. However, their form is slightly different. Are not 1/2" UNC/BSW the exception 12TPI and 13TPI?
Disclaimer! These are brakes and need to be correct!!!

Rick

If you get stuck give me a shout and I can make them for you, I had to make all the bleed screws and cylinder screws for the morris 8 as they are a really odd size (whitworth spanner size with UNF threads!!)

To improve things I made them up in stainless steel.Very Happy

Given the US origins I doubt if the threads would be BSW, although 3/8 BSW & UNC have the same pitch, the angle and depth of the thread are different, so should not be mixed!

Thanks Dave, I'll see if they've found anything next time I'm over, if not I'll drop you a note.

They are almost certain to be UNC,I doubt if any US made vehicle uses Whit threads anywhere, although I've seen some with odd BA fittings.
As someone else has pointed out the threads are close enough that the bolts can be swapped over but tighteneing them will almost certainly strip the threads.
A decent quality thread gauge is a good investment for anyone messing about with old cars or bikes.

Handily the originals have turned up. Thanks stuchamp, I had a look at the Roberts site but whether they're the same items as on the more commonly found (ie 1/2 ton) trucks I'm not sure Confused Anyway, not a problem now Smile

Glad you found them. I may actually have a pair here along with the front backing plates, cylinders, etc. Need to dig thru the back shed again.
