Hi,

I have a number of AC filters type FZ3 in a metal canister, but I do not know what they fit, can anybody help identifying them. They need to go to someone who can use them!

Dimensions are: Height 12 cm, diameter 9 cm.

Thank you!

They remind me of Austin A30, early Morris Minor (803cc), and I think Standard 10 although it's hard to be sure on the size.

Welcome to the forum!

This looks the type that could be fitted as an after market part of a kit to the old sit up and beg Ford pops.

Ooops yep they do look like Ford Pop, A40 Somerset/Devon, Vauxhall 10/12 etc, bigger than the A30/Minor ones I initially thought. I've a few in the garage originally bought for the Devon that I hung onto for the Bedford ute.

I reckon with that fitting they are by-pass filters, which may or may not be aftermarket. If so they must never be adapted to fit a full flow filter system.

It might be worth investing in this catalogue:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/AC-Delco-filters-catalogue-oil-air-fuel-1967-/350461360462?pt=UK_CarParts_Vehicles_Manuals_Litterature_ET&hash=item51991ff94e

which would hopefully give you the answer. I think it's a scanned image file download, not a real, oily, curly & smelly old book.

The filter body is typical size/colour of early canister types from AC. However, the connector size is not sufficient to be a full-flow. It is not an engine-mounted unit, it is fitted to the inner wing connected by pipes.

The filter appears to be a by-pass retro fit type with pipe connection to the male thread and a banjo connction to the female thread.

These filters were available in different lengths but the connections were similar.

My Daimler 15 also has one of these on it, as Inglewood says, connected by pipes as a later addition.
